Yoga Poses For Scuba Divers

Yoga is not just about physical exercise. It is also about quieting the mind and aligning it with the body. It also promotes better breathing as part of practicing yoga is mastering the right breathing techniques. Yoga is a great way to calm your mind—which is a great help so you can dive better. Here are some basic yoga poses (asanas) you can practice with your diving buddies for a calmer and better plunge:


Mountain Pose (Tadasana)

A foundation for most poses and an amazing tool to improve posture.

 


Forward Fold (Uttanasana)

The head, on this pose, is below your heart allowing blood to flow to your head giving your cells a revitalizing boost of oxygen.


Half Standing Forward Fold (Ardha Uttanasana)

Stretches the spine and legs.


Four-Limbed Staff Pose (Chaturanga)

Tones arm and forearm muscles and develop flexibility and strength in the wrists. Also best pose to tone abdominal muscles.


Upward Dog (Urdhva Mukha Svanasana)

A great stretch for the chest, shoulders, and abdomen. It also strengthens the spine, arms, and wrists.
